"Ben went above and beyond for his work on our short film, Pigeon-livered. He understood the brief quickly and asked relevant questions about the project. Keeping on time for the project Ben also suggested several creative sound design changes. These changes have served to enhance our project, thank you Ben!"

"Working with Ben on my animated documentary, A Cancer Story, was an incredible experience.

His deep understanding of sound design truly brought the film to life, elevating its emotional core and enhancing the impact of its message. Ben’s unique insight into cinema through sound made him an invaluable team member, and his dedication to the project is evident in every scene.

Thanks to his remarkable contribution, the film has been selected for festivals across the UK, Australia, Greece, Nigeria, and India. I am immensely grateful for Ben’s collaboration and exceptional talent, which have played a huge role in the film’s success."

"Ben has been assisting with recording and mixing sound effects for Maroon Seal Games since February 2021 and has consistently produced great work in this time.
This includes; foley and field recordings (birdsong) for a demo game in collaboration with Blue Donut studios, organised, assisted and provided equipment for capturing car noises for an upcoming horror driving game, and recorded assorted foley for a robot demolition game.
We intend to continue working with him, as he is reliable and his contributions are always of a high standard."

'Ben was the sound recordist on set for Pratfall, a short I directed in 2019. He was easy to work with, friendly and professional, and audio was captured expertly. We ended up going back to him to record the film’s soundtrack. He engineered brass, woodwind, guitars and percussion for us: the session was easy and enjoyable, and the tracks all sounded great. He played a central role in bringing the project together – looking forward to working with Ben again.'

‘Ben Viney has worked as a front of house sound engineer, at the new live music venue 26 Leake Street in Waterloo since we opened in February 2019. I have found him professional and exactly what was needed for the job: technically skilled and very, very patient.

He has good technical and musical understanding, and is a thorough / critical thinker who goes through tasks and deals with any setbacks systematically. He is considerate, accommodating, and communicates well with bands and clients for all their requirements. He is punctual and keeps track of schedules for sound checks and stage times when delivering shows with multiple bands; he has looked after shows at Leake Street with bills of up to four bands regularly.’

Sean Mclusky, 26 Leake Street

‘I have had the pleasure of working with Ben in his capacity as a work experience person and volunteer. Ben is an intelligent capable young man. His communication skills are excellent, as is his timekeeping. He takes on tasks requested of him with enthusiasm and conscientiousness. I have found him to be entirely honest and trustworthy, I have no hesitation in recommending him for any opening in your organisation.’

‘Ben has been an exemplary student, achieving strong grades while being an integral member of his group and a positive force throughout. He is very driven, both inside and outside of college, fulfilling successful work placements and extracurricular activities.’

Access To Music Federation, Access Creative College

‘I hand picked Ben to be my assistant engineer for several weeks of recording in our colleges studio. As a student, Ben was a cut above the rest so it made sense to challenge his skills outside of the classroom. After a few weeks of assistance in the studio, a couple of situations arose where I had to leave the studio to attend to some offsite situations. Ben was happy to be left in charge and was able to run the studio without my guidance and not cost the client any wasted time.’

‘Ben has an excellent understanding of technical aspects of the mixing process, and also a creative flair to get the most out of any individual track. He is easy to get on with and to collaborate with, and we highly recommend him.’

Andy Bromley, Revok Records

‘Working with Ben was a great step for my band and a pleasure. From the informed set up of the studio to the help and advice with releasing our newly recorded material, he was dedicated and insightful. As soon as he began his work on post-production, I could tell we were going to get everything we wanted for our tracks; applying a great deal of his learning and experimenting creatively with the technology available.

He was very attentive in listening to our requests for what we wanted for the tracks, coming to us multiple times with new mixes and asking for our criticism, and was eventually adding qualities to the sound that was improving the material that we had written. I would definitely use Ben again.’

‘The process of recording my compositions with Ben was a very smooth, friendly and professional experience. I was very impressed with Ben’s knowledge of recording and mixing. The final recordings sounded fantastic.’

Ben Pickering, keyboardist

‘Ben has been my sound engineer on two studio sessions, and has setup the instruments, mic'ing, routing, PA, sound checks and live recording with great speed and efficiency. He is very friendly and easy to work with and remains calm under pressure as well as being a good problem solver. He is admired and respected for his skills by the session musicians that I employ for my projects.’

‘I worked with Ben Viney in the studio, and the whole process was extremely enjoyable and successful. When we were about to record, Ben made sure we had the right mindset and that we were all happy and knew about what was going on. I particularly appreciated how he paid attention to making sure we were all in the best mood possible, and I think that led to better takes.

Once the whole track was mixed, I couldn’t have been more pleased; Ben completely nailed the vibe the band were going for. Overall, Ben is a pleasure to work with and an impressively knowledgeable sound engineer.’
